Jesus says in Revelation 2:20:
I have this
against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a
prophetess. By her teaching she misleads My servants into sexual immorality
and the eating of food sacrificed to idols (NIV).
As Jesus’ disciples, we are called to be part of the pure
bride of Christ. We are to marry Him at His coming. It is the depth of
vileness to descend into spiritual fornication. Jezebel is a personification
of false teaching that leaders impose on people. Jezebel was king Ahab’s
wife who dragged the people of Israel down into the depths of depraved
idolatry (1 Kings 16-18).
Jezebel had much to do with furthering the idolatrous
worship of Baal in Israel. God spoke to Elijah the prophet about this
despicable situation. The judgement decreed was a 3½ year drought in Israel.
Many people suffered and died. Towards the end of the drought, God spoke to
Elijah to publicly contest with the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel. The
story of what occurred is one of the most well known accounts in the Old
Testament. It is in 1 Kings 18. There was a miraculous outpouring which
demonstrated to the people whom the true God was really backing!
A parallel is occurring today. The deceptive teachings of
those who are promoting idolatry in the church are going to be contested in
a public showdown. That is coming. You will hear more of that in the days to
come. Much more!
Once again it will be prophet versus perverts! The
strength of numbers and popular opinion will be on the side of the perverts,
but the true prophet will win out in the end!
Perverts of Pergamum!
Another place in the New Testament where spiritual
fornication is mentioned is in Revelation 2:15. Pergamum was being seduced
into fornication.
Fornication is a metaphor for entertaining wrong teaching
– satanic heresy! It lures its victims into a relationship with the devil,
taking them away from the holy One (Rev 3:7). This is what is occurring in
the WCG, though few who remain are alert to what is subtly taking place.
One other description in Revelation 2:14 is pertinent in
this context. It describes the "eating of food sacrificed to idols". It
ought to be clear what this is referring to in a spiritual plane. When
church leaders feed their flocks with perverse teachings – doctrines of
demons – they are offering their audience "food sacrificed to idols".
Also, Revelation 3:18 describes Laodicea as spiritually
naked.
If you have some spiritual discernment (you don’t need
much!) you should be able to see why God conveyed the WCG’s current
behaviour in the dream in the way that He did. It was shocking and lewd, but
so is what the leadership of the WCG are doing in spiritual terms. They are
being used by Satan to defraud God’s people of the truth of God’s Word,
whilst they do it all in the deceitful guise of introducing "new covenant
theology." It is a sham and a fraud. It is spiritual seduction of the most
brazen kind!
The ekklesia of God has suffered this satanic onslaught
against the faith once delivered from the outset. Apostasy is taking its
lethal toll today! The WCG is merely one more recent victim.
